Democrats oppose Trump’s White House ballroom construction project

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Democrats, Socialists, or whatever they are these days are freaking out over President Donald Trump building a ballroom in the East Wing of the White House, and while it’s their stupidest craze of the entire Trump era, it’s also pretty significant.

The ladies on ABC’s “The View” were apoplectic when they saw images of the demolition, a rather mundane way to begin renovations at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. They echoed onetime resident Hillary Clinton’s complaint that Trump does not own the White House, and even sang about it.

What makes this claim so absurd is that Trump did not build this ballroom for his personal use or victory. This is not a vanity project. This is a long-considered addition to an executive house that does not have the capacity to hold large indoor events.

Trump, as always, is out to create grandeur, and that seems to be something leftists reflexively oppose.

TRUMP BREAKS THE GROUND OF THE GIANT WHITE HOUSE BALLROOM PROJECT WITH PRIVATE FINANCE FROM ‘PATRIOTS’

It is clear that Trump is not the first president to renovate the White House. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt built a swimming pool. His successor, President Harry Truman, nearly gutted it to add a balcony. President Nixon closed the swimming pool but added a bowling alley. Finally, President Obama turned the tennis court into a basketball court.

Note that these are all modifications made to serve the personal taste or taste of the respective president, like a Roman emperor adding a water feature to his personal dining area.

What Trump is doing is completely different. The ballroom he built will likely endure as a symbol of American power long after we are all gone. In a sense, our generation will contribute to the nation’s home.

TRUMP CELEBRATES THE DEMOLITION OF THE WHITE HOUSE AS NEW BALLROOM RISES: ‘MUSIC TO MY EARS’

Trump wants this place, which is the symbol of America, to be a majestic and classically inspired, timeless marble monument of the USA, which has emerged as the world’s only superpower since the 20th century.

And in a way, that’s part of what the left objects to, not just about the White House project, but about Trump’s proposed new arch in Washington, D.C., and the large statues of American heroes; not to mention the recent massive military parade.

Some of America’s international style and sensitivity in the post-Cold War era had to be taken for granted. Like the star point guard who is also a model and chess prodigy, we have learned not to overdo it.

HILLARY CLINTON DISCOVERS VOTERS AGAINST TRUMP’S WHITE HOUSE BALLROOM CONSTRUCTION: ‘IT’S NOT HIS HOME”

At that time, little public art or architecture was being done on a grand, classical scale, and in more recent times our society has been so determined to tear down statues and monuments that we have given little thought to erecting them.

Trump instinctively understands that America may still be the world’s sole superpower in 2025, but not with as much hegemonic distance as in the recent past. China, among others, is catching up, and the “oh, crap” attitude of the past needs some adjustment.

World leaders and those attending public White House tours must gasp when they enter the presidential ballroom. From the Pyramids to the Colosseum, such spectacles are as old as nations themselves and are nothing to be ashamed of.

While this expansion of the White House would be worth taxpayer money, Trump found a way to build it with private donations as well as his own funds. The left is still in crisis. From where?

Recent polls have shown that only 36 percent of Democrats are very, or even somewhat, proud of America. This being the case, it is easy to understand why they resist building testaments to its power and grandeur.

What Democrats and socialists really object to here is not Trump’s ballroom celebrating himself, but the ballroom’s shameless celebration of America.

Fifty years later, King Henry VII of Great Britain When George dine at the White House, people will hardly remember that it was built by Trump, even if all the gold leaf remains. By then there will be great American architecture that we can all be proud of.

Americans want and deserve a big, beautiful ballroom for their country’s executive mansions, and there has never been a president more capable of providing that than our real estate mogul.

Liberals can stomp their feet in anger all they want. But the ballroom will be built and eventually many will appreciate it.
