Nagaland Police offer ₹50K reward for leads in July 13 IED blast

Nagaland Police on Friday, July 17, 2026, announced a cash reward of ₹ 50,000 for credible information leading to the identification and arrest of those behind the July 13 bomb attack that killed an Assam Rifles havildar and severely injured four others.
Chümoukedima falls under the jurisdiction of the Police Commissionerate in the adjoining Dimapur district.

In a public announcement, Police Commissioner Aotula T. Imchen said a team was conducting an intensive investigation into the explosion suspected to have been caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) in Khopanullah near Chümoukedima ‘A’ village, with the aim of identifying and capturing anyone involved in the “heinous act of terrorism”.
The reward will be given to individuals who contribute to the planning, financing, harboring, transporting or otherwise facilitating the crime, as well as information leading to the identification and arrest of the perpetrators or their associates, the statement said.
Police also requested information to help identify hideouts, safe houses or logistical support networks used by criminals, as well as recover explosives, explosive components, weapons, communications devices, vehicles or other incriminating material linked to the case.
A day after the incident, the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) said it would “make every effort by all available and appropriate means” to identify those behind the IED blast targeting the Assam Rifles convoy.
The site of the explosion is not far from Camp Hebron, the military and administrative headquarters of the NSCN.
Suspicious IED explosion killed Havildar Muhammad Iqbal, an officer at the Assam Rifles Training Center and School at Sukhovi in Chümoukedima district. He hailed from Kallar Mohra village in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
