Naidu, Pawan to Attend Meeting with Water User Associations Presidents in Amaravati Today

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan will attend the meeting with the heads of the Water Users Association scheduled to be held under the aegis of the water resources department in Amaravati on Thursday.

Water resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu said here on Wednesday that they will hold a meeting with the heads of Irrigation Associations as the CM will instruct them on conservation and management of water and improvement of groundwater tables.

The minister alleged that the irrigation system went off track during the previous YSRC regime and his government inherited pending bills worth 18,000 billion rupees. He said their government has brought the ministry back on track and is focusing more on completing execution of many important projects including Polavaram, Handrineeva, Veligonda, Galeru Nagari, Polavaram Left Main Canal and various projects in north Andhra region. He credited Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for efficient water management as many reservoirs in the Rayalaseema region had sufficient water even though crop cultivation had ended during the Kharif season. He reiterated Naidu’s call to improve groundwater resources to save Andhra Pradesh from drought.
