nancy guthrie update today: Nancy Guthrie case mystery deepens as investigators focus on anonymous tipster linked to ransom messages-here’s what you need to know

Nancy Guthrie case update: The search for answers in the Nancy Guthrie case took another dimension; Attention has now focused on an anonymous tipster who contacted TMZ and claimed to have inside information about the disappearance. According to comments shared with Fox News Digital by TMZ founder Harvey Levin, investigators now believe the mystery source may be a woman, although she used multiple male aliases when communicating with media outlets. According to Fox News, this development added a new layer of intrigue to a case that remains unsolved even months after Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.

Who is the anonymous tipster?

The anonymous individual first gained attention after contacting media outlets with information allegedly linked to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie. According to Fox News Digital, the person used multiple different male names when communicating but repeatedly relied on the same Bitcoin address.

Harvey Levin said that researchers recently shared a new theory about the source.

“The person used several different male names, but it was always the same Bitcoin address,” Levin told Fox News Digital. “They didn’t say why, other than saying they thought it might be a woman.”
The sender reportedly claimed to know both the identity of the kidnappers and the location of Nancy Guthrie’s body. Authorities continue to actively pursue the individual and believe they may eventually be able to identify the source, Levin said.
The FBI, which is handling aspects of the investigation related to the alleged ransom notes, declined to comment.
TMZ was among several news organizations that received messages about the case. The news outlet later received communication from someone claiming to have additional information, according to Levin.

Why do investigators think the Nancy Guthrie case could be solved?

Although digital forensic studies have yet to identify the person behind the ransom communications, investigators are reportedly optimistic about the future of the case. Levin explained that authorities allocated significant resources to find those responsible for the messages. Despite these challenges, researchers continue to believe a breakthrough is possible, he said.

“They are still actively looking for that person and believe they can now find that person,” Levin added.

Levin also shared what he described as a recurring belief among researchers.

“They’re frustrated because they’ve been trying so hard to find the person who wrote these ransom notes, but to no avail, and today I was talking to this person from the FBI, and this is the second time this person has told me this, that there’s a chance this case will be solved in six months, a year, two years,” Levin said.

“Someone goes to a bar and starts bragging about it, or my ex decides to fuck my ex and I go report it to the authorities… They believe it’s going to happen. They believe it could happen sooner or later, but they really believe it’s going to happen.”

California attorney and Fox News contributor Josh Ritter said the theory is consistent with patterns often seen in criminal investigations.

“Even if people weren’t aware of it beforehand, they probably became aware of it when it became a media sensation,” he said.

Ritter suggested that someone connected to the case could eventually speak out, either intentionally or by revealing information to others.

What does Savannah Guthrie want the public to do?

As investigators continue their work, Savannah Guthrie renewed her appeal to the public for help. During a recent livestream, the “Today” co-host urged anyone with information to come forward.

“I want to take the opportunity to really ask people to come forward,” he said. “Someone knows something.”

He also described the emotional toll the case had on his family. “This is news that’s on your radar today, but this is the life my sister lives; I live; my brother lives; our extended families live; our children live every day. We suffer.”

Ritter reiterated his belief that human resources can ultimately deliver the breakthrough that researchers need. “I firmly believe there is someone there who was either directly involved or came to find out who was involved,” Ritter told Fox News Digital.

Nearly 20 weeks later, Ritter said the strongest clue may no longer come from forensic evidence but from someone willing to talk.

“Whatever forensic work they had to do, whatever DNA-related work it was, they probably did that and saw it to its limits and nothing turned up,” he said. “So in my opinion, the best chance this thing has is for someone to say something.”

With the reward totaling more than $1.2 million and investigators continuing to follow leads, authorities are focused on finding the person behind the messages and uncovering what happened to Nancy Guthrie. For now, authorities and family members continue to hold out hope that someone with critical information will decide to come forward.
