Nancy Pelosi’s husband charged over hit-run collision

Paul Pelosi, husband of former US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, has been charged with hit-and-run with a parked car.

Pelosi, 86, crashed her brown convertible into a legally parked car on the side of the road on July 3 in Yountville, California, in the heart of wine country, the Napa County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement at the time.

He stopped briefly and allegedly sped away. While the parked vehicle became unusable, there were no injuries in the incident.

According to the statement, Pelosi does not have alcohol in her system.

State law requires drivers involved in crashes that result in property damage to stop and provide vehicle and driver’s license information; Pelosi was charged with misdemeanor violation of this law. Additionally, Pelosi has been charged with illegal return, Napa County prosecutors said Friday.

Paul Pelosi’s attorney was not listed in court records. Nancy Pelosi’s press office did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

Paul Pelosi’s court appearance will be held on August 14.

Pelosi pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of drunken driving in Napa County in 2022 and was sentenced to five days in jail and three years of probation. He served two days and received good behavior credit for the other two days; He has only one day left to serve on a work schedule at the courthouse.

As part of the probation, Pelosi was required to pay thousands of dollars in fines and victim compensation, take a three-month drunk driving course and install an ignition interlock device that forces drivers to provide a breath sample to prove sobriety before the engine is started.

That same year, he was attacked and severely beaten with a hammer at the couple’s San Francisco home.
