Nancy Sinatra calls Trump’s use of Frank Sinatra’s ‘My Way’ a ‘sacrilege’

Singer Nancy Sinatra called it “disrespectful” for President Donald Trump to reference her father Frank Sinatra’s song “My Way.”

On Saturday, Trump released a video To Hakikat Sosyal Frank Sinatra sings his classic song in light of renewed threats to destroy Iranian infrastructure for the country for allegedly violating the ceasefire agreement.

The song begins with the opening lyrics, “And now/the end is near/And so I face/the final act,” which echoes Trump’s past threats to destroy the nation.

The 85-year-old “These Boots Are Made for Walking” singer later responded to the comment, adding, “This is disrespectful.”

He reposted comments from users criticizing Trump’s post and his use of the song, insisting that Frank Sinatra would not agree with Trump’s politics.

“Trump may love Sinatra, but Sinatra didn’t love Trump” one person wrote.

“This is so sickening. Frank Sinatra would never have let that monster in the White House use his music or mouth his lyrics. Sinatra was an honorable man, a man who never had to lie about who he really was because he was the best. Trump is a loser.” someone else wrote.

Sinatra also responded to a fan asking if he could do anything to stop Trump from using the song.

“Unfortunately no. The only ones who can do something are the publishers,” he replied.

Fox News Digital has reached out to the White House for comment.

Trump previously danced to “My Way” with First Lady Melania Trump at the Liberty Ball following his inauguration in 2017. At the time, Sinatra joked about the writing of the piece: “Remember the first line of the song.”

He later deleted the post and denied being “angry” about Trump’s use of the song.

“What terrible nonsense to make a harmless joke,” Sinatra tweeted.

He also wrote: “I’m not sure why this is such a big deal. It was really just a joke.”

When asked if he was upset that his father’s song was used by Trump, Sinatra said, “I actually wish him the best. A good president helps the whole world. I don’t believe anyone is trying to be a bad president.”
