Naomi Osaka’s Australian Open outfit and bold entrance to Rod Laver Arena
Naomi Osaka got a lot of approval for her outfit for a memorable entrance into Rod Laver Arena on Tuesday night.
The double Australian Open champion and former world No. 1 wowed crowds and television viewers alike when she took to the court for her match against Croatia’s Antonia Ruzic wearing a white hat and flowing white trousers, which she removed to reveal a green ruffled dress with a veil.
Fashion Critical, the Australian Open’s overall fashion editor, said the outfit was “totally unbalanced” but loved it.
“He’s giving the Met Gala. He’s giving the Fashion Critic,” he said.

“I like the idea of adding a little theater to the march. But you better have the pedigree to back it up, and so does he.”
Melbourne Fashion Festival president Caroline Ralphsmith, who was sitting in the front row at the Osaka match, also approved of Osaka’s outfit choice.
“[That was an] An incredible overall impression for the exact moment of entry; “The crowd loved it,” he said. “The real dress is creative, flowing [yet] it is still sporty and allows full movement on the field. “It’s a great self-expression.”
