Naruvi Hospitals in Vellore successfully performed advanced robotic knee surgery on a 54-year-old woman who was suffering from acute knee pain for a long time.

Addressing media persons here, GV Sampath, founder and chairman of Vellore Naruvi Hospitals, said that West Bengal native Basudha Satpati has been suffering from severe knee pain for years. He had applied to many health institutions in the past and was told that his problem could not be solved due to his health condition.

The patient visited Naruvi Hospitals recently. “The expert medical team of the hospital’s Department of Orthopedics conducted detailed tests and diagnoses and concluded that the woman would need to undergo a total knee replacement surgery with the advanced Smith and Nephew CORI (Computer Operated Real Intelligence) assisted system,” he said.

Mr. Sampath said that during traditional procedures, patients would normally experience blood loss and tissue damage, but the CORI system eliminates such problems. The patient could walk and climb stairs on the third postoperative day. The Hospital President said the benefits of robotic surgery include pinpoint precision, higher accuracy and success rate, and faster recovery of patients.

Further, Mr. Sampath stated that the State government had recently announced a training and awareness program on fire safety measures to prevent fire accidents, of which National Cadet Corps (NCC) schools and colleges will also be a part. Naruvi Hospitals will also be a part of the initiative.

He said that the first phase of the training will be conducted in the hospital premises along with the Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services Department.

Managing director Paul Henry, Chief Medical Services Aravindan Nair, Naruvi Hospitals general manager Nithin Sampath were present at the event.
