Boy, 16, charged with murder after teen fatally stabbed in Hackney | UK | News

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with murdering a fellow teenager in Hackney, north-east London. Brayan David Saldarriaga was fatally stabbed on May 25 while police were called to reports of a large gathering, disorder and sightings of people carrying machetes on the Towpath Walk at 7.17pm.
Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance to find Brayan with stab wounds in Poplar Close. Despite the intervention of emergency teams, it was determined that the person died at the scene.
The 16-year-old, who cannot be named due to his age, was charged with murder and possession of bladed items on May 29. He will appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court today.
Brayan’s relatives continue to receive support from expert police officers.

The Metropolitan Police said: “A teenager has been charged with the murder of Brayan David Saldarriaga in Hackney.
“The 16-year-old, who cannot be named due to his age, was also charged with possession of a sharp instrument on Friday, May 29. He will appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, May 30.
“Police were called to Towpath Walk, E9, at 7.17pm on Monday, May 25, following reports of a large gathering, disorder and sightings of people carrying machetes.
“Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance and found Brayan, from Haringey, with stab wounds in Poplar Close.
“Despite the intervention of emergency services, he died at the scene. His relatives continue to receive support from expert teams.”
