Nathan Lyon injured during day five of Australia v England Test at Adelaide Oval
Nathan Lyon is now likely to miss the Ashes after suffering a hamstring injury on the final day of the third Test in Adelaide.
Lyon strained his right hamstring after a fine-leg delivery on Sunday as Australia searched for wickets to grab Ashes glory. He will no longer take part in the match.

The spinner, who led England at 3-77 from 25 overs in their second innings, walked away from the field after fielding the ball back.
As Marnus Labuschagne walked towards the dressing room, he had a brief conversation with Lyon and patted the player on the back.
In the statement made by Cricket Australia, “Nathan Lyon has injured his hamstring and will not take any further part in this match.”
Western Australian Corey Rocchiccioli, Tasmanian tweaker Matt Kuhnemann and Victorian Todd Murphy emerge as spin options should Lyon fail to play the fourth Test from Boxing Day at the MCG.

Rochiccioli, a right-arm off-spinner, has 20 Sheffield Shield wickets this summer at an average of 28 after taking 38 wickets last summer. Murphy and Kuhnemann played Tests for Australia in India and Sri Lanka.
Lyon suffered a calf injury in the second Test of the 2023 Ashes series at Lord’s and did not feature again in the series. Australia won the Test, taking a 2-0 lead, but failed to win the series, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
