Galgotias University Asked to Vacate AI Summit Expo: Sources

New Delhi: Galgotias University has been asked to immediately vacate its booth at the AI Summit Expo, sources said, amid a controversy over the display of a robotic dog that has raised questions about the origin and ownership of the technology on display. The controversy arose after Galgotias University faced backlash online for displaying a robotic dog labeled “Orion” at the AI Summit expo; critics said it was a Chinese-made Unitree Go2, not an in-house innovation.
Sources said Galgotias University was asked to vacate the fair immediately.
Galgotias University faced major backlash and accusations of misrepresenting imported technology as its own.
Responding to the controversy, Professor Neha Singh of Galgotias University told PTI: “The controversy took place due to some things not being stated clearly and the intention not being understood properly.”
“As for the robot dog, we cannot claim that we produced it. I told everyone that we introduced it to inspire our students to create something better on their own. Our university contributes to the training of future leaders by providing the latest technologies in the field of artificial intelligence and will continue to do so.”
When the government asked the university to evacuate the fairground, he said: “I have no information about this. What I do know is that we are all here today.”
