National Lottery player claims her £12m winning ticket was thrown in the bin
A woman claimed her National Lottery ticket worth £12 million was thrown away in a store.
Kath Main, 46, used the same numbers (08, 10, 26, 30, 35 and 42) for the last 20 years and realized she had hit the jackpot.
But he was told there was no winner when the ticket was checked at Londis in Abercynon, South Wales.
National Lottery operator Allwyn confirmed they were investigating the incident.
The rugby club secretary said Sun He said he called his mother to ask if she was doing a lottery for the June 6 drawing after realizing she had the winning numbers.
He said: “I said, ‘We won the lottery,’ and he said, ‘I checked and there’s no winner.’ I said, ‘No, it’s a winner, we won.’ He said, ‘How much?’ he said. and I said ‘£12 million’. “He said, ‘No way, the ticket is in the trash.’”
Her mother said that when she checked the ticket, the shopkeeper informed her that there was no winner, so she decided to throw it away.
The bins had been emptied when Mrs. Main and her mother noticed the mistake.
Karan Kumar, owner of the store in Londis, said: “The machine might be working. They are doing an investigation now. It would be great if it wins.”
Ms Main, who now has to wait 30 days for a decision from Allwyn, added: “I feel sick all the time, it’s because of not knowing and waiting.
“I am the unluckiest person to win the lottery because I have no money. I try not to think about what I will do if I don’t get the money.”
But he said if he wins the money he will travel to New Zealand for the British and Irish Lions tour in 2029.

An Allwyn spokesman said: “As the operator of the National Lottery, we take our duty of care to players very seriously. We are currently investigating an allegation regarding a potentially winning ticket.”
“The National Lottery is the only major lottery in the world that allows players to claim a jackpot if the winning ticket is lost, stolen or destroyed. Our priority is to ensure every jackpot is paid correctly to the right person.”
