ayan mukerji: Ayan Mukerji out of ‘Dhoom 4’ after ‘War 2’ failure: Why did ‘Brahmastra’ director quit the Yash Raj project and what is his next move?

Is Ayan Mukerji out of Dhoom 4?
After the failure of War 2, director Ayan Mukerji decided to take a back seat as the director of Dhoom 4. Sources close to the development told Bollywood Hungama that Ayan has opted out of Dhoom 4 and conveyed his reservation in a closed-door meeting with Aditya Chopra.
An insider was quoted as saying, “Ayan was only executing what was written on paper by Shridhar Raghavan and had very little say over the script and screenplay. Being a passionate filmmaker who prefers to work only on written material and bring more to the screen than what is written, he does not want to embark on another journey of fair enforcement.”

The source also confirmed that the decision to step back from Dhoom 4 was taken after a series of meetings with Aditya Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor. “Both Chopra and Kapoor understood Ayan’s point of view and parted ways at the right point. Ayan is currently working on Brahmastra 2 and will shoot the film on floors in 2026. The writing work has been completed and some polishing is going on during his stay in the Himalayas,” the insider added.
Why did Ayan Mukerji leave Dhoom 4?
The filmmaker, known for his emotionally resonant storytelling, was reportedly involved exclusively in bringing Shridhar Raghavan’s script to life. “He didn’t have much input into the script and wasn’t willing to take on another project limited to execution,” a source told the report. Despite the sudden separation, the separation was described as ‘amicable’ by both Aditya Chopra and co-star Ranbir Kapoor.
