Trump caught on hot mic lamenting Nobel Peace Prize snub – ‘Do I get credit?’ | World | News

Donald Trump was caught in a hot mic moment while appearing to bemoan his failure to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. The US President is at Mar-a-Lago to discuss the ceasefire plan for Gaza with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
In the footage of the couple sitting down to eat with their delegation, Trump’s words were heard: “35 years of fighting and they stopped. Do I deserve credit for that? No.” He then began to say, before being interrupted: “They gave me the Nob…”, implying that he was going to lament not winning the Nobel Peace Prize. He continued: “What about India and Pakistan? I did 8 of them. I’ll tell you the rest later.”
Trump and Netanyahu later talked about their meeting in Florida. The Israeli leader called it “very, very productive” and praised their “extraordinary friendship.”
He said: “He has achieved remarkable things in the Middle East because we worked together. We talk about our ideas. Sometimes we have different ideas, but we figure it out and most of the time we agree. But it was an extraordinary experience and a very, very productive meeting.”
The Israeli Prime Minister also confirmed that Trump will receive the Israel Peace Prize, the country’s highest civilian honor. He added that the US President would receive the award “for his tremendous contributions to Israel and the Jewish people.”
Netanyahu said: “In our almost 80 years, we have never given this award to a non-Israeli. This year, we will give the award to President Trump.”
During the meeting, the leaders discussed the disarmament of Hamas. Trump said there would be “hell” if they were not disarmed, adding that the United States was doing “everything we could” to ensure the release of the last hostage’s body from Gaza.
He explained: “It’s terrible. It’s going to be really bad for them. And I don’t want that to happen. But they made an agreement that they would disarm.”
The US President also said he hoped Iran would not try to develop its own missile program. He added that he did not want to “waste a lot of fuel” by redeploying US bombers to the Middle East.
Trump said: “If so, we will have no choice but to clear this backlog very quickly.
“I hope Iran is not trying to prove, as I’ve read, that they’re producing weapons and other things, and if they are, they’re not using the sites that we destroyed, but they’re probably using different sites.”
