NBA investigating fans who allegedly directed remarks to Jalen Brunson: report

The NBA is reportedly investigating two fans who allegedly shouted profanities at New York Knicks superstar Jalen Brunson during Game 1 of the NBA Finals at Frost Bank Center on Wednesday night.

Two fans were allegedly berating Brunson for failing with rude words. NBA reporter Chris Haynes. With 20 seconds left in the game, the taunts started coming as the Knicks took a significant lead.

According to the report, Brunson, 29, approached referee Scott Foster after the game ended, informed him of what had happened and asked him to do something about it. Foster was within earshot of the fans and heard the derogatory remarks.

ABC broadcast of the game showed Brunson speaking towards the fans. Foster stepped between Brunson and teammate Jose Alvarado pushed Brunson away from the scorer’s table.

Brunson was seen pointing at fans after taking a field goal in the fourth quarter.

While the fans certainly harassed the Knicks’ captain, the Spurs’ defense in the fourth quarter did not. Brunson scored 13 of his 30 points in the fourth quarter on 5-of-9 shooting to lead the Spurs to a 105-95 victory.

Brunson didn’t shoot very well throughout the game, going 12-of-31 from the field and 2-of-9 from 3-point range, but he did come through when it mattered most to lead the Knicks to a road win in Game 1. He also had three rebounds and two assists in the win.

The Knicks will try to win another game on the road when they face the Spurs in Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Friday at 20:30.
