NBA tells Orlando Magic’s Jalen Suggs to stop headband ritual

Orlando Magic guard Jalen Suggs always started games with his headband around his neck and moved it towards his head as he felt the flow of the game.
The NBA reached out to Suggs and told the 24-year-old he could no longer wear the headband in his signature style and that he would have to put it on his head when tip-off came. Broadcast of Orlando Magic.
The five-year NBA veteran said he started wearing the headband around his neck once and continues to do so.

“I wear it around my neck and when I feel like I’m getting into the game, into the flow, I put it on my head and we swing,” Suggs said earlier this season. USA Today. “I’m just J-Suggs.
“It actually stems from the football trickle; it stems from there. But I don’t know. There’s really not much else other than that.”

Suggs is a regular starter who has started every game he has played in the last three seasons. So he will need to make an adjustment. The Magic guard averaged 15 points, 3.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists in 23 games this season and displayed a strong defense.

The Magic selected Suggs No. 5 overall out of Gonzaga in the 2021 NBA Draft, and the guard has been a roster mainstay since his debut.
