Kerala Governor raises concern over ‘Vande Mataram’ protocol in Assembly
He said if the governor attends such events, proper protocol must be followed.
Before and after Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar’s policy speech in the Kerala Assembly, a band team sang the opening stanzas of Vande Mataram.

Speaking to reporters at Lok Bhavan after returning from the State Assembly, he said that it was insisted that Vande Mataram be sung in full when the Governor was in the Assembly.
He said that the song was not sung in the parliament, it was only played.
“When the governor is present, it needs to be said in its entirety. It wasn’t said, it was just played,” he said. Arlekar added that he had already spoken to Speaker Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan about the issue and was waiting for the matter to be taken up.
“Let’s see how things develop,” he said.
Earlier, the BJP had alleged that the national song Vande Mataram was not sung in full in the Assembly when the Governor attended the policy speech on Friday and that it amounted to an “insult” to Lok Bhavan.
