Nearly 800 TTP terrorists killed in ongoing operation in Afghanistan: Pakistan

Nearly 800 Afghan Taliban terrorists were killed in an operation launched by security forces in Afghanistan, Pakistan’s city of Islamabad said on Sunday.

Minister of Information Attaullah Tarar shared the latest update on the Ghazab lil-Haq operation, giving a summary of the losses suffered by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), also called Fitna Al Khawarij (FAK) and Afghan Taliban.

Tarar said that at least 796 Fitna Al Khawarij and Afghan Taliban personnel have been killed and more than 1,043 people have been injured since the start of the operation.

He added that 286 Afghan Taliban positions were destroyed, 44 positions were captured, and 249 tanks, armored vehicles, artillery weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed.

Operation Ghazab lil-Haq was launched on the night of February 26 following what Pakistan called “unprovoked fire” from across the border by the Afghan Taliban.

Tarar said the army also effectively targeted 81 terrorists and terrorist support infrastructure points across Afghanistan by air.
He also said that last Thursday and Friday night, an attempt by the Afghan Taliban to attack a border post in Ghulam Khan District was comprehensively foiled. Tarar said that 37 terrorists were killed and more than 80 terrorists were injured in the operation. Pakistan said on Thursday it was holding talks with Afghanistan’s Taliban government to end the ongoing conflict and demanded that Kabul “demonstrate visible and verifiable actions” against terrorists.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said that talks between senior officials of the two countries are continuing in Urumqi, China.
