Neo-nazis march through Melbourne CBD with ‘White Man Fight Back’ sign
About 100 masked man walked on Melbourne CBD in the early hours of Saturday morning – the police watched.
In front of the procession passing through the Bourke Street Shopping Center, two people carried the Australian flag and a national socialist network flag, while another man wrote a “White Man Fight”.
The National Socialist Network is the Australian Neo-Nazi organization known to use protests and media tactics to hire members throughout the country.
Police vehicles were seen to flash the lights at the scene, but the officers allowed the march to continue without intervening. In Melbourne, such demonstrations did not take place for the first time, and previous events were reported to be linked to Neo-Nazi groups.
A Victoria police spokesman said the police responded to a pop-up protest in Melbourne CBD on August 9 at 12.40.
“Melbourne CBD is about 100 people dressed in black with facial coatings from CBD,” he said.
“The police quickly responded to maintain the public order.”
At the end of the group, he said that he walked to Flagstaff Gardens and scattered at 1.25.
