Netflix bosses ‘desperate to sign Emily Atack for Inbetweeners reboot’ as all four male leads agree to return – five years after she was axed from reunion over ‘past fling’ with James Buckley

A new Inbetweeners movie is reportedly on the horizon, and all four core members of the cast will return.
The series became an instant classic when it ran for three seasons between 2008 and 2010, and two spin-off movies were also produced.
While there have been whispers of a reboot in the past, Sun has now claimed that the four main actors, namely Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, James Buckley and Blake Harrison, have signed on the dotted line to star in a third film for Netflix.
But the newspaper said broadcast bosses were not content to just have the main cast return, they also wanted Emily Atack, 36, to reprise her role as Charlotte ‘Big Jugs’ Hinchcliffe.
The move comes as a surprise after Emily was axed from the Inbetweeners reunion five years ago following her ‘past fling’ with James.
A source told the publication: ‘The show’s creators have written the script and are ready for broadcast; But Emily is one of the missing pieces in the project they want to fulfill.
‘Fans will already be pleased to see the return of the four main leads as there were concerns that the roles of the young actors, who were supposed to be all teenagers in the series, could be taken over by new, younger actors.

‘But it’s fair to say getting Emily back would be the cherry on the Inbetweeners cake.’
The Sun added that it was “thrilled” that all four main actors were asked back, but noted that it would be a little harder for Emily to do a reboot given what’s going on right now.
In 2019, it was reported that Emily was kicked out of the Inbetweeners reunion after James told producers it was “either her or me” following a fling they had while they were both single.
According to reports at the time, James was afraid his wife, Clair Meek, would find out about their short-lived relationship on the series between 2008 and 2010.
As well as starring in the Disney series Rivals, Emily is in the process of producing a new show for the BBC called Reputation.
He’s also waiting to hear whether ITV will order a second series of Nobody’s Fool, which he presents with fellow Rivals actor Danny Dyer.
The source added that if Inbetweeners begins filming soon, results could be released as early as 2027.
Emily has been asked numerous times in the past about a possible Inbetweeners return and told Capital FM: ‘I don’t know. We would all be much older now.
‘The pretty funny thing is, when we shot the series I was only 17, I had just left school, but the kids were in good shape… I think they were in their late twenties, early thirties.’
Last month, bride-to-be Emily joked that she had “enough rosé for a lifetime” as she posed in a bikini and veil in fun-filled snaps from her stag weekend in Cannes.
The mum-of-one looked incredible in a black two-piece as she posed in front of the mirror before topping up her tan in the sunshine.

She also showed off her golden glow in a white bikini – which was covered up by Agent Provocateur – as she lived with friends ahead of her wedding to Alistair Garner in Spain in September.
The Rivals star had a very chic wardrobe and was enjoying walks in golden satin with a new veil on her head.
And the group of friends drank countless bottles of Lady A rosé and enjoyed an incredible variety of foods.
He wrote: ‘The most insanely perfect few days. Pure joy from start to finish and enough @drinkladya to last us a lifetime.
‘By the way, even if you don’t get married, I would definitely recommend you to have a chicken. Losing all your stuff is the most fun you’ll ever have.’
Emily had about 20 friends at her hen-do, and the group were all in photos together.
A few days ago, Emily shared another group photo and posed with her sparkling rainbow sequined dress and veil.
Emily got engaged to scientist Alistair Garner in July 2025 after giving birth to their son Barney last year.
