A new book on the historical evidence for Jesus has rocketed to the top of bestseller lists, a leading New Testament scholar claims. archaeological finds Verify the truth of the Bible and the resurrection.

Johnston said he has spent the last four years traveling the world to consult with scientists and archaeologists who study these artifacts. He argues that the findings provide compelling evidence for the New Testament, regardless of a person’s religious background.

“It turns out we can learn 65 facts about Jesus’ birth, life, ministry, miracles and, of course, his death, burial and resurrection before even opening the Bible. And no other religious figure on planet Earth has been this well attested,” he told Fox News Digital.
One of the discoveries is the Shroud of Turin, a burial cloth believed by some to have been wrapped in Jesus Christ, while others believe it is a 13th-century forgery. The shroud is unique compared to other funerary shrouds from the 1st century because it bears the image of a tortured, crucified man.
“The fascinating thing about the Shroud of Turin is that on the front and back there is an image of a brutalized, tortured, crucified man; when you see him in the photographic negative, you actually see him in the photograph positive, and it takes your breath away,” Johnston said.
He said details on the cloth showing the man’s wounds matched the biblical account of how Jesus was killed.

The Shroud of Turin or Shroud of Turin is a long linen cloth bearing the image of a man who appears to have suffered physical trauma consistent with crucifixion. There is no consensus yet on exactly how the image was created.
“Because he was tortured, his red blood cells broke down in bilirubin. Ferritin and creatinine levels are high. Then you see there is a wound on the left side that pierces the fifth and sixth ribs,” Johnston said. he said. He noted that the shroud showed piercings on the man’s wrists and ankles rather than his palms and feet, as artwork from later centuries often depicted the crucifixion.
He also says that pollen samples taken from the fabric are specific to the Jerusalem area. He argues that no one has been able to replicate the fabric’s “mysterious properties, including its anatomical accuracy, lack of pigment, and three-dimensional properties.”
“The image is only 0.2 microns thin. Do you realize that’s one-fifth the size of our hair?” Johnston said. “That’s how superficial the picture on the shroud is.”
Johnston spoke with Italian physicist Paolo di Lazzaro, a senior researcher at the ENEA Research Center in Rome, who spent five years recreating the image.
According to Johnston, Lazzaro’s test found that “a burst of 34,000 billion watts of radiant energy, delivered in 40 billionths of a second, was required to create the image.”

Johnston believes the findings suggest: supernatural event He created it.
“That’s why I say that the Shroud of Turin is not a death shroud, it is a resurrection shroud. This is the moment when the physical body of Jesus comes to life,” he claimed.
The shroud has only been carbon dated once, in 1988, returning a date of 1260-1390 AD. Johnston said recent peer-reviewed studies had “discredited” the dating, arguing that the sample was a patchy contaminated area. Newer technologies using Wide Angle X-ray Scattering (WAXS) “confirm a 1st century date,” he said.
He points out other evidence that suggests the shroud is older than its radiocarbon date; for example, Emperor II. Similar image of Christ on the obverse of a seventh-century coat of arms by Justinian.
The Shroud is just one of the discoveries Johnston discusses in the book. It also details an artifact called the “Jesus Cup” dated to 50 AD. Inscribed on the cup is a phrase in Greek describing Jesus as a sorcerer or magician; Johnston says this shows that Jesus’ reputation as a healer was well known throughout the Roman Empire.

Other artifacts in the book include the James Ossuary, the Magdalen Papyrus, and finds confirming the existence of Pontius Pilate.
Johnston said he wants to help Christians and non-believers see the historical evidence of Christianity.

If Jesus’ disciples didn’t have the evidence-based belief that they saw him alive after his death, “not a single part of the New Testament would have been written,” he said.
“We should be skeptical of everything we devote our lives to,” he said. “The beautiful thing is that the deeper you go with your questions about Christianity, the stronger our faith becomes.”
