New championships, new calendar? What next for athletics after Tokyo

Next year, World Athletics World Champions, Diamond League winners and 2026’s best performance three -day final championship and will compete in Budapest, which offers $ 10 million (£ 7.5 million) prize pot.
Earlier this year, the opening season of the Grand Slam track, which excludes Michael Johnson’s field activities, ended with the cancellation of the last leg due to financial concerns, and his future is still doubtful that some athletes have not yet received money.
Coe said he plans to use the final championship to test the ideas that could become a part of the large stages of sports, then the world athletics.
“There is a four -year cycle and one of those years can not get bills of eyeballs in our sport. As a global sport, we cannot meet it.” He said.
“We thought what we can do is different, and we can be a incubator for the change in which we can introduce something and can be tested and perhaps here in a world championship.
“I think this will be a great addition, but there is much more work to do.”
Sporting Icon Bolt, the winner of the eight Olympic Gold Medal, told BBC Sport that Ultimate Championships believes that the sport is a “good start” because the sport is trying to grow.
Bolt, “Sport needs to develop and I feel that the field of athletics is moving in the right direction.” He said.
“Athletics is probably one of the poorest sports and one of the biggest sports, so the incentive is very big and I am happy for athletes because they deserve it.”
Regarding the high performances witnessed in Tokyo and the increasing standards in general, COE detected technological progress on the surface of the synthetic palette, shoes worn by athletes and coaching skills and methods.
Coe said: “Some of the performances we see here just leave the chin.
“What is good in this regard is that the sport progresses as athletics in the same progress.”
“For athletes, there is never enough reward money, we always want more. If possible, we want athletes to benefit from growth revenues.”
