New heat health alert issued as another UK heatwave approaches

A new yellow temperature health alert has been issued for parts of the south of England and the Midlands as more warm weather is expected to arrive in the UK this weekend.
The warning will be in force from midday on Saturday, July 4, until 5pm on Wednesday, July 8, and covers the East Midlands, South East, South West, East of England and London.
The UK Health Safety Agency (UKHSA) said hot weather could impact health and social care services.
This comes after the hottest temperature for June in the UK was recorded last month.
Temperatures can be expected to rise over the weekend and a return of heatwave conditions looks “increasingly likely”, the Met Office said.
Met Office Deputy Chief Forecaster Tony Wisson said: “Forecasts for this weekend suggest temperatures could approach the high 20s Celsius in parts of England, perhaps approaching 30s Celsius in parts of the south-east, and mid to high 20s Celsius in Wales.”
“Although a return to heatwave conditions appears increasingly likely in some areas, the likelihood of extremely high temperatures or high humidity levels like last week is currently low.”
