New sentencing laws in ACT spark legal debate | The Canberra Times

The ACT government has previously stated that as of June 30, 2024, 50 percent of people detained in the region will not be sentenced. In its opinion, the government argued that indicative penalties could reduce the number and proportion of people in custody who have not been sentenced, by facilitating faster resolution of problems.
