Newly released emails reveal Epstein kept close eye on Trump | Jeffrey Epstein

A portion of documents released by the House oversight committee on Wednesday revealed that Jeffrey Epstein’s team kept him informed about Donald Trump’s situation. air travel regarding his own transportation, and the deceased sex trafficker continued to follow news about his former friend years after their relationship broke down.

The disclosure of nearly 20,000 pages about Epstein from the committee’s Republican members comes as Trump continues to grapple with political fallout over his past friendships and the justice department’s failure to release documents as he long promised during the campaign.

Many of the arguments the Guardian examined about Trump’s location appeared to be about flight logistics, as he and Epstein often used the same airports.

On November 25, 2016, just a few weeks after Trump won the presidential election, Epstein’s pilot Larry Visoski wrote: “Trump is scheduled to depart between 4pm and 6pm on Sunday, let me know if we are committed to departing at 6pm on Saturday?” Epstein responded: “I’ll let you know tomorrow morning.”

But other emails tracked Trump’s movements more generally. Epstein received an alert on December 2, 2017: “Trump is in our neighborhood today. Looks like he’s going to 740 Park for a fundraiser.” The sender’s name was omitted from the email newsletter, but it was signed by Epstein’s accountant, Richard Kahn.

A visitor waiting outside Epstein’s home joked about Trump while waiting to get in. “[I’m] It’s at the door but I’ll bide my time. . “I don’t want to come to your house early to find leverage,” they wrote, adding two smiling emojis. Their names have been corrected in the email.

The cache of filings also shows that Epstein’s associates forwarded numerous Trump-related news articles, including reports on controversies surrounding the president. The news included a January 2019 story about the arrest of Trump ally Roger Stone and an article about Michael Cohen’s meetings with prosecutors.

Email exchanges with friends and colleagues showed Epstein’s disdain for Trump. In a December 2018 memo, Epstein told former treasury secretary Larry Summers that “trump is borderline crazy. Dersh is a few feet from the border but not too much,” apparently referring to his onetime lawyer Alan Dershowitz.

Summers asked: “Is Trump going to go crazy?”

“This is not a new phenomenon for him. In the past he was told not to leave his apartment. This is how he survived almost personal bankruptcy. His strength is extraordinary. He is beaten 24/7,” replied Epstein. “I hope someone close to him is charged but I’m not sure, otherwise the pressure of the unknown will force him to do crazy things.”

In another correspondence in March 2018, Landon Thomas Jr., then a New York Times reporter, sent a letter to Epstein. Article from The Daily Beast This mused on whether Trump was close to a “psychiatric breakdown.” Epstein responded: “He feels lonely and crazy!!! , I told everyone from day one. He’s crazy beyond belief and many thought I was speaking figuratively, it’s clear he could crack stormy daniels. Lie after lie.”

When asked to comment on the emails, White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson said: “These emails literally prove nothing.” A representative for Summers did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Epstein received numerous updates from his pilot about Trump’s movements throughout the years covered by the broadcast. “Updated Presidential Election schedule: Trump Plane will arrive in Orlando at 5pm on Friday for the event, then arrive in Palm Beach at an estimated 10pm. It is often late, so 11pm could be a realistic time for a PBI Arrival,” Visoski wrote in December 2016. Visoski also noted that the airport would close for 20 minutes before and after Trump’s arrival.

He also said, “I will inform you if the time changes.” Visoksi’s emails about Trump’s flights appeared to be in response to Epstein’s email to her that “I won’t be leaving until 8pm tomorrow night.”

Visoski had more information about Trump on September 30, 2017. “I heard Press Trump arrived in St Thomas on Tuesday,” he wrote.

In November that year, Epstein discussed a planned trip to Little St James, an island in the US Virgin Islands, where he molested young girls.

“We will go now [Little St James] “I’m going to New York early on Sunday the 26th and will spend the week there,” Epstein told his pilot Visoski. “Trump is in town that week.” There is nothing in the email to indicate that Epstein planned to meet with Trump.

Visoski responded with Trump’s arrival and departure times, saying in a follow-up email that “it wouldn’t be bad if we left early and Trump wasn’t scheduled to leave until 3pm on Sunday,” adding: “This departure would be similar to DCA leaving customs.”

In another email that same month, Visoski wrote: “While Trump is at PBI, TSA is only allowing arrivals and departures for General Aviation between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.”

A few months later, in March 2018, Visoski gave Epstein another update on Trump regarding air travel. “Thanks Confirmed to Teterboro at 3pm on Wednesday, Friday Trump will arrive at PBI, I will confirm the time, Thank you.”

In December of that year, in another email, Visoski wrote: “Since Press Trump has not yet arrived at PBI” (apparently referring to Palm Beach international airport) “should Darren and Dave pick you up at PBI as you will be departing for Ls3 on December 26th? Or would you rather Boca for departure, no TSA issues at PBI at this time.”

A few months before his arrest on sex trafficking charges, Epstein tipped off his employees. “President Trump will be in our neighborhood on Thursday, so don’t be surprised if the secret service checks in.” The employee replied: “Thank you for your warning, sir.”

Trump wasn’t the only high-profile figure whose travels were discussed by Epstein. The documents also show that in September 2012, an assistant to Epstein was told to inform Epstein that “Vice President Joe Biden is in West Palm Beach and is scheduled to depart today between 5 and 6 p.m.”

“He also parks at the Galaxy ramp in Palm Beach,” the email added. “The airport will be closed between 17.00 and 18.00. We will have to leave at 16.00 or 14.00.”

The newly disclosed documents were released shortly after House Democrats on the oversight committee released three separate, previously unseen email exchanges sent by Epstein in 2011, 2015 and 2019; In that email exchange, the disgraced financier described Trump as a “dog that doesn’t bark” and claimed that Trump “spent hours” with one of Epstein’s victims at Epstein’s home and claimed that “Trump” of course “knows the girls.”

The release of these email exchanges has reignited the Epstein controversy that has dogged Trump for months and renewed public scrutiny of Trump’s past ties to Epstein.

Leavitt said: “Trump kicked Jeffrey Epstein out of his club decades ago for intimidating his female employees, including Giuffre,” and added: “These stories are nothing more than malicious efforts to distract from President Trump’s historic achievements, and any common-sense American can see through this deception and the obvious distraction from reopening the government.”
