On NDIS reforms, Labor finds courage. But can they deliver?

Disability advocacy groups condemn Mark Butler’s action major NDIS reforms as a “dark day”. The Greens called them “terrible”. Labor knew full well that such criticism would come from its own experience – countering which it slammed all efforts by the Morrison government to rein in runaway NDIS spending, portraying them as an insult to disabled Australians. Now Labor is reaping what it has sown and must announce direct cuts to elements such as social inclusion, as well as more radical changes around program access and the whole design of the service than the Coalition has attempted.
