Sanju Samson shares first reaction after shock move from RR to CSK before IPL 2026

Sanju Samson has finally reacted after his surprising switch from Rajasthan Royals to Chennai Super Kings ahead of IPL 2026. The former RR skipper shared his first words following the blockbuster move, leaving fans emotional and excited about his new journey in the iconic yellow jersey.

Sanju Samson has been officially transferred to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for an impressive Rs 18 crore, as announced by the IPL on Saturday. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran are on their way to Rajasthan Royals in trades worth Rs 14 billion and Rs 2.4 billion respectively.

This swap broke a new record and became the most valuable trade in the history of the Indian Premier League.

After several successful years with Rajasthan Royals, Kerala’s talented wicketkeeper-batsman is now all set to don the jersey of Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Samson’s first reaction after moving to CSK

After his transfer from Rajasthan Royals to Chennai Super Kings was confirmed, Sanju Samson expressed his feelings on Instagram. Reflecting on his journey with RR, he stated that he gave his all to the team and considered his teammates as family.

“We are only here for a short time. I gave my all to this team, enjoyed great cricket, built relationships for life, treated everyone in the team like family.. And when the time comes…I move on.. I will always be grateful for everything @rajasthanroyals,” he wrote on his official Instagram account.

Samson, who played in 177 IPL matches, is among the most experienced players in the league. Except for the 2016 and 2017 seasons when he played for Delhi Capitals, he made his debut with RR in 2013. This marks his third team appearance in the IPL.

Simultaneously, CSK traded their star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja to RR along with Sam Curran. Both players will now be seen wearing the pink jersey. Jadeja, who primarily played for CSK throughout his IPL career, will now take on a new challenge with Rajasthan Royals.

Reflecting on his time at RR, Samson shared that he always desired to be close to Dhoni and cherished the moments he spent with him and learned from his expertise.

“Like every young Indian cricketer, I wanted to be around MS Dhoni. Every time you meet him, every time you know you are going to play against CSK, it’s like you want to sit with Mahi bhai, talk to him, understand how he does things. Just sitting around him was a dream as a young cricketer,” Samson was quoted as saying to Star Sports.

“When I came to play IPL, I thought of meeting him after the match. But a few people were already there to meet him. In the 8th year of my IPL, I went and met him. I waited to help my team win a match against CSK. I scored a few runs and won POTM. After that, I went and met him. After that, my relationship moved upwards. It was such a blessed feeling. I shot with him. It feels like a dream,” he said.
