On 3rd-and-8 at the Chiefs’ 45-yard line, Dak Prescott spotted Pickens breaking in before the first down marker. He spun around and found an empty space. He raced down the sideline, avoided a single tackle and then nearly intercepted Chiefs defensive back Trent McDuffie.

“Oh my God,” CBS broadcaster Jim Nantz exclaimed in surprise.

The play kept the drive alive for the Cowboys, and they finished with a much-needed touchdown in response to the Chiefs’ score to cap the drive ahead of time. Dallas would hang on for a 31-28 victory and continue its play-off fight.

“We had to get these wins against two elite teams at the top of where we were and where we put ourselves before these games,” Prescott said. “So, two teams that played in the Super Bowl last year. Last year was last year, but you’re talking about two organizations that clearly know how to win, and we beat them in two great games.

“On top of everything we’ve been through.”
