NGT dismisses application challenging Musi River Front Project

The south bench of the Chennai-based National Green Tribunal on Thursday rejected BRS party leader Patolla Karthik Reddy’s application against the Musi Riverside Development Project initiated by the Telangana government.

While the petitioner alleged that the government had started executing the project without obtaining valid environmental clearance, the bench observed that the grounds for opposing the project were already covered in the Terms of Reference (ToR) issued by the State Environmental Assessment Authority. The petitioner asked the bench to restrain the government from carrying out any development activities along the banks of Musi river.
