Hundreds take the plunge at festive sea dip in Lowestoft

Organizers of the swim in Lowestoft, Suffolk, said they were working with the coastguard, lifeguards and St John Ambulance, although many events were canceled due to difficult conditions.
Many swimming races planned for Boxing Day have been canceledIncluding Cromer, Sea Palling and Mundesley in Norfolk and Aldeburgh in Suffolk.
Sea Palling dive organizer Tonya Knights, from the charity Let’s Do It Again, decided to postpone the event after contacting the coastguard.
“They told me that wave surges of up to 3 meters (10 ft) could occur, making conditions unsafe. The safety of our diggers is of paramount importance,” he said.
