Nick Reiner was schizophrenic and became ‘erratic and dangerous’ after doctors changed his psych meds weeks before parents were slain

According to inside information, Nick Reiner suffered from progressively worsening schizophrenia and became ‘unstable and dangerous’ when doctors changed his psychological medication weeks before he allegedly murdered his family.
Sources tell TMZ that the accused killer was seeing a psychiatrist due to his increasing mental illness in the months before his Hollywood icon father Rob Reiner and mother Michele were found stabbed to death on Sunday.
According to the publication, insiders said Nick’s behavior has become ‘alarming’ lately.
The report stated that he attended a rehab facility in Los Angeles that specialized in substance abuse and received a staggering fee of $70,000 a month.
In the weeks before the alleged murders, doctors reportedly changed Nick’s medication, making him more unstable, with one source saying Nick was ‘out of his mind’.
On Saturday night, Nick was brought by his parents to a star-studded holiday party hosted by Conan O’Brien because his worried parents reportedly wanted to “keep an eye on him.”
Guests at the A-list crowded holiday party reported that Nick exhibited ‘antisocial behavior,’ including staring at attendees, and that he and Reiner argued loudly at the party.
Insiders told Rolling Stone that Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer, asked if they could bring Nick to the party because of their fears about Nick’s mental state, and at one point, witnesses said Nick had a heated moment with comedian Bill Hader.

Hollywood legend Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle Singer were found stabbed to death in their mansion on Sunday.
Rob and Michele were found dead with their throats slit in their $13 million mansion in California on Sunday.
At the time of his arrest, Nick’s sister Romy, 28, who found her parents’ bodies, told investigators that her brother ‘must be a suspect’ because he was ‘dangerous’.
The Daily Mail exclusively revealed that those around Nick saw him as a ‘ticking time bomb’ following the alleged murders.
Sources said Nick’s drug use spiraled out of control after his parents threatened to kick him out of their home.
The troubled 32-year-old had been living in his parents’ guesthouse in Los Angeles for the past five years; Here, insiders claimed, his behavior became increasingly erratic and frightening.
A source close to Reiner told the Daily Mail on Monday: ‘Nick was living in their guesthouse, the boarding house he destroyed on more than one occasion, but it’s been a revolving door his whole adult life.’
‘He was using meth, wouldn’t sleep for days, then had tantrums, breaking things, punching walls.
‘He was a ticking time bomb. His drug use was getting worse and his family wanted him out, his friend said.

Nick, who was seen in September 2025, had long been struggling with mental health issues and substance abuse and had revealed that he had been on numerous rehab trips.
Romy Reiner, seen with her brother Nick, found her parents’ bodies and told investigators that her brother “should have been a suspect” because he was “dangerous.”
According to the source, Nick, one of three children, often laughed at the destruction he created during drug-induced incidents.
‘He boasted about how he could get away with anything and would get money from his parents for drugs and prostitution.
“He used to talk about these issues at meetings, but then he stopped going because he said it was too cult,” the source said. ‘He laughed more than once at the destruction of his family’s guest house. He was very nonchalant about it.’
Nick appeared in court for the first time on Wednesday and was formally charged with murdering his parents.
He waived his right to enter a plea, and his next hearing will be on January 7.
Investigators are still trying to piece together Nick’s whereabouts following the deaths of his parents, whose murdered bodies were found in the master bedroom of their Brentwood mansion.
