40 days after a First Information Report (FIR) was registered against her in a rape and sexual abuse case, suspended TCS employee Nida Khan was taken into police custody at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar late on Thursday night. The arrest was made in a joint operation by Nashik SIT, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Crime Branch and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Police Commissioner.

“Nida Khan has been detained from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. We are currently in the process of completing legal proceedings,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandip Mitke, who heads the Nashik Police SIT.

Ms. Khan was named as one of the accused in a rape and sexual abuse case. Recently, a Nashik court had rejected his bail application after the prosecution alleged that he had connections in Malaysia and Malegaon. Police said his custodial interrogation was necessary.

The 23-year-old complainant had alleged that Ms Khan taught her to read Kalma, observe Roza and change her dressing behaviour. Police also slapped sections of the Prevention of Atrocities Act in the case.
