Nigel Farage failed to declare ‘£380,000 external earnings’ on time

Nigel Farage failed to register 17 breaches of his financial interests in a timely manner, according to a ruling by parliament’s standards commissioner, Daniel Greenberg.

The Reform UK leader’s 17 breaches, elected in July 2024, amounted to more than £380,000 in outside earnings.

Reform declined to comment on the decision but a party source said Mr Farage had been late in announcing the earnings.

A Labor spokesman said: “Nigel Farage is so busy trying to attract failed Tory politicians to his party that he can’t even get the basics right. He’s not there for working people; he’s just lining his pockets when he should be standing up for his voters.”

“He boasts about making money ‘because I’m Nigel Farage’, making millions from a variety of outside businesses, but neglects to do the important work that hard-pressed taxpayers have allocated to him.

“Labour will tighten the rules on second jobs for MPs to ensure they get the attention the public expect and deserve from their elected representatives.”

However, an ally of Mr Farage said Sir Keir Starmer had also admitted delaying making statements ahead of the election after he was found to have made eight breaches.

This is breaking news, more to come…
