Nimisha Priya execution: Supreme Court asks Centre to consider merits of group working to save nurse for travel to Yemen

On Friday, July 18, 2025, the Supreme Court asked the Malayali Nurse to think of any representation by Nimisha Priya, a group struggling to fight to save the life of the Malayali nurse to travel to the country and negotiate with the victim’s family for par money.
Justice Vikram Nath and a counter of Sandeep Mehta were informed that the execution of the previously planned execution on July 16 was postponed due to the efforts of the government, and that Kanthamuram Ap Aboobacker Musliyar was a respected scholar from Kerala.
Chief Public Prosecutor R. Venkataramani expressed the concern of the government to safely back Nimisha Priya. “The only thing the government can do is to do,” he said.

Senior lawyer Ragenth Basant, who appeared for the Council, said the nurse’s mother was in Yemen and alone. He was a home worker and could not negotiate with the family of the murder victim.
Mr. Basant, who accepted the assistance given by the government and scientist, proposed a team of representatives from the government, supported by the lawyer Subhash Chandran, the council and the clergy could go to Yemen to reach the family of the murdered man.
Basant, “We must take the amnesty first. The family needs to forgive us. After forgiveness, blood money should be decided,” he said.
He said there was a travel ban on Yemen. The government must relax the restriction for the proposed team to go there and activate the wheels.
However, Mr. Venkataramani reacted with suspicion about Mr. Basant’s suggestion and said, orum I don’t think there may be something officially right now, ”he said.
However, Justice Mehta said that Mr. Basant did not want a direction and that he had made only one suggestion.

Ms. Nimisha Priya was sentenced to death by a court for the murder of a local man in 2020 in Yemen. His appeals were rejected by the Courts of Appeal of that country.
“One child, a 12 -year -old girl lives in a monastery. His mother is a local helper in Ernakulam and his husband is a authoritory driver,” he said.
