‘It was hurtful to see him with…’

Kalki Koechlin, who married filmmaker Anurag Kashyap in 2011 at his mother’s home in Ooty, opened his divorce after emotional. The duo met during the construction of the first film Dev D, but in 2013, he went to separate ways and officially divorced in 2015.

In a recent zoom conversation, Kalki reflected how difficult the first years after disintegration. “We should stay away from each other’s life,” he confessed. He explained that each other was painful. “It was a hurtful to see someone else with someone else, the reminders were very strong.”

Kalki said that the protection of the distance initially helps to heal and it takes time to re -connect with good terms. “Now we are in a good place and we can catch up once in a while,” he shared.

Kalki, Anurag’s daughter Aaliyah Kashyap’ın when the wedding joined the advanced ties were clear. On December 11, 2024, Aaliyah tied the knot with Shane Gregoire at a traditional Hindu ceremony in Mumbai.

Kalki has continued since then and is now married to Israeli musician Guy Hershberg. The couple welcomed their daughters Sappho before marriage in February 2020. Interestingly, they first met on a gasoline pump on the way to the Dead Sea and stayed in contact for years before deciding to start a family together.

Kalki, who defines their multicultural lives, once said, “He was Jewish. Partially Russian, partly Poland, partly Iranian. He was born and raised in India. My first step is Hindu, my last name Protestant.
