No Respite From Heat as 23 AP Mandals Face Heatwave

Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh is likely to get no respite from the heat, with heatwave conditions expected in 23 mandals across the state on Sunday.

Prakhar Jain, director general of Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority, advised the public to take necessary precautions against heat waves, extreme temperatures and humid weather.

The affected buffalos include Badangi, Bobbili, Dattirajeru, Mentada, Ramabhadrapuram and Vangara in Vizianagaram district; Balijipeta, Garugubilli, Gummalakshmipuram, Jiyyammavalasa, Komarada, Kurupam, Makkuva, Pachipenta, Parvathipuram, Salur, Seethanagaram and Veeraghattam in Parvathipuram Manyam district; GK Veedhi in Alluri Sitarama Raju district; and Chintoor, Kunavaram and Vararamachandrapuram in Eluru district.

The highest temperature on Saturday was recorded at Nandavaram in Kurnool district at 44.8°C, followed by 44.2°C at Kadapa, 44°C at Rayadurg in Anantapur district and Allagadda in Nandyal district and 43°C at Kambham in Prakasam district.

Temperatures above 41°C were recorded in 172 mandals in 18 of the state’s 28 districts, Jain said.
