Writer and journalist P. Narayanan conferred with Padma Vibhushan

Veteran journalist and writer P. Narayanan, 90, from Idukki, has been conferred with Padma Vibhushan, India’s second highest civilian award, for his contribution to the field of literature and education.
Mr. Narayanan is its co-founder and editor-in-chief. janmabhoomi daily. The prominent Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader in the State had earlier served as the general secretary of the State body and was a member of the national executive committee of the Bhartiya Jana Sangh. His literary contributions include nearly 10 original books and translations of over 100 works.
Responding to the announcement, Mr. Narayanan said Union Home Minister Govind Mohan called him unexpectedly at 11.30 am on Sunday to inform him of the government’s decision.
“I accept this honor with the utmost respect for the country. My life has been fully dedicated to the welfare of the nation and this recognition makes my journey even more meaningful,” Mr. Narayanan said.
Popularly known as “Narayanji”, he was born on May 28, 1936, in Manakkad village of Thodupuzha. As a journalist, he wrote columns. janmabhoomi From 1999 to 2025, he contributed more than 1,200 tracks during this period.
