Newly elected Reform councillor admits she ‘doesn’t understand ‘ | News

A new reform UK councilor has admitted he “doesn’t understand” how the council works.
Kirklees Council attempted to elect its new leaders at its annual meeting on Wednesday, May 20, but chaos soon ensued and the council was left leaderless.
Reform UK councilor Sarah Wood and Green Party councilor Andrew Cooper nominated themselves, but neither could secure a majority. When a Conservative councilor suggested the orders be suspended so the pair could argue for victory, Wood objected.
“I don’t understand the Constitution. I haven’t had enough time to read it yet,” he said.
He argued that the move would put his party at a “disadvantage”. He explained: “We don’t know exactly what we’re voting for.”
