The Skins Game returned on Friday for the first time since 2008, and while there were big winners, there was also a big loser.

The event, which was last held in 2008, featured four players from the September Ryder Cup: Keegan Bradley and Xander Schauffele from the United States and Team Europe’s Tommy Fleetwood and Shane Lowry, the latter of whom secured the trophy on the 18th hole at Bethpage Black.

Bradley was the big winner of the day, taking home $2.1 million; $900,000 of that came from a birdie on the par-3 12th at Panther National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. This was the biggest prize in the Skins Game until Fleetwood won $1.25 million in three holes.

Bradley won 11 total suits, nine of them in two holes, while Fleetwood took home a total of $1.7 million. Lowry’s winnings were well below $200,000, but Schauffele goes home empty-handed.

After the match, the golfers were each given large checks for their winnings. Even though he didn’t win a dime, Schauffele wasn’t left out.

The two-time major champion’s check read “zero dollars.” But it remained a good sport.

“This is actually the first check I ever received,” Schauffele said. “I’m going to frame this in the living room.

“That’s motivation. Honestly, it’s probably the last Skin Game I ever play.”

Players started with $1 million. When someone else won a costume, their money was deducted.
