Now England want to welcome Mexico to Wembley after uplifting trip to the Azteca – with Thomas Tuchel praising ‘passion and emotion’ of their fans

England are keen to host Mexico at Wembley after their epic World Cup clash at the Azteca sparked a sense of mutual respect and goodwill between the two countries.
Daily Mail Sports It is aware that the FA is actively exploring whether it would be possible to host the tournament’s co-hosts in London at some point as part of an evolving relationship.
Despite initial outrage over the proposed change to the kick-off time of Sunday night’s instant classic, the Three Lions were impressed with the reception they were given both before and after the dramatic 3-2 last-16 clash in the Mexican capital.
On the eve of the match, while a small group of locals tried (unsuccessfully) to disturb the team’s sleep in front of their hotel, Thomas Tuchel and his players spoke very warmly about how they were treated in the country.
It was a similar story among the estimated 10,000 fans who visited the game. After 10-man England managed to endure a dramatic night, the Mexican fans were on impeccable behaviour, congratulating their guests and wishing them luck for the rest of the tournament.
This experience has not been lost on FA officials, who will now look to roll out the red carpet for their co-hosts if the calendar allows.
England hope to host Mexico in a friendly at Wembley after defeating them in the World Cup
The Three Lions were impressed with the reception they were given at the Azteca and would like to reciprocate by organizing a match with the World Cup hosts at some point in the future.
A relationship with Mexico could also be beneficial as the Three Lions prepare for the next World Cups, when they could face countries from the same region.
In fact, some consideration is being made as to whether the friendship between the two countries will become a regular occurrence, although any possibility is in the very early stages.
Tuchel spoke glowingly of the experience, happily mingling with locals as he left the hotel for coffee after the victory.
‘We played against a strong team in a magnificent, magnificent stadium and in a magnificent country,’ he said.
‘I almost feel sad when I say you (Mexico) are out there because I’ve seen the passion and emotion of all the people.’
