At the India AI Impact Summit 2026, Global South policymakers and technology leaders from countries such as Indonesia, Uganda and Ghana came together to boost AI collaboration by focusing on shared learning, regulatory compliance and infrastructure linkages for economic and social progress.
Kautsarina Adam from Indonesia’s Ministry of ICT and National Guidance highlighted the significant diplomatic and economic benefits of the summit.
Answering a question on the importance of the event, Kautsarina Adam said: “This summit provides mutual recognition and agreement on our joint efforts. We aim to embrace artificial intelligence to strengthen our economy and global partnerships, making it vital for us.”

“By leveraging datasets from India, we can leverage AI in education through improved skills, increased awareness and stronger regulatory frameworks,” he added.
Irene Karungi Sekitoleko, Senior ICT Infrastructure Engineer at Uganda’s Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, described artificial intelligence as a newly emerging but promising field in her country.
Irene Karungi Sekitoleko, Uganda’s Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, said: “Uganda is developing governance frameworks to leverage this emerging technology. We are looking to learn from countries like India on scaling solutions, adapting them to local contexts, and creating collaborations at this summit to overcome challenges such as limited computing power and infrastructure.”
“Uganda benefits from strong ties with India, underpinned by economic contributions from the Indian community. We look forward to deeper collaboration, partnerships and learning, particularly on how our governments can jointly leverage emerging technologies,” he added.
Maxwell Ababio, Head of Technology and Ethics at the Ghana Data Protection Commission (DPC), praised the excellent organization of the summit and its diverse participants. He noted Ghana’s policy collaborations with Rwanda, as well as its effort to finalize a national artificial intelligence strategy.
Maxwell Ababio pointed out India’s strong role in their networks and said, “India is doing well, a lot has been learned and more cooperation is needed.” He expressed optimism about deeper relations.
India’s thriving AI ecosystem serves as both a partner and a model for developing countries. The summit fostered actionable partnerships as Global South countries leverage AI for inclusive growth.
India plays an important role as a democratic leader and development partner in the global South, offering a non-threatening model of cooperation based on shared priorities such as inclusive growth, digital infrastructure and climate change resilience.
The India AI Impact Summit 2026 underscores this leadership by positioning the country as an AI bridge for emerging economies, sharing scalable solutions, datasets and policy frameworks that address local challenges without dependence on the West.
India is amplifying the voice of the South, promoting South-South trade and encouraging equitable adoption of technology through platforms such as G20, BRICS and Voice of the Global South Summits.
