Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Laksha Kantha Gita Parayana program at Sri Krishna Matha in Udupi and the 550th anniversary celebrations of Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math in Goa and urged people to take nine resolutions, including saving water, planting trees, cheering up the poor and embracing Swadeshi. Addressing the gathering at the Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math event in Goa, he said that when an institution stands on the foundation of truth and service, it does not keep pace with the changes of time but instead gives the society the strength to endure.

He noted that a large bronze statue of Lord Ram, 77 meters high, has been installed and stated that just three days ago he had the privilege of lifting Dharma Dhwaja to the top of the magnificent Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya. Emphasizing that the constant flow of power to this Math comes from the great Guru tradition that forms the divine foundation of Dvaita Vedanta, Prime Minister Modi reminded that this Math, founded by Shrimad Narayan Tirth Swamiji in 1475, is an extension of the tradition of knowledge whose original source is Jagadguru Madhvacharya.

The Prime Minister stated that there were periods in Goa when temples and local traditions faced crises and language and cultural identity were under pressure, but these conditions did not weaken the spirit of the society, on the contrary, they strengthened it. He emphasized that the unique feature of Goa is that its culture has preserved its original essence with every change and renews itself over time, and institutions such as Partagali Math play an important role in this.

“Today, India is witnessing an extraordinary cultural renaissance with the restoration of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, the major redevelopment of Kashi Vishwanath Dham and the expansion of Mahakal Mahalok in Ujjain, all of which reflect the country’s awareness of its spiritual heritage reviving it with new vigor.” he said.

He noted that initiatives such as Ramayana Circuit, Krishna Circuit, development works at Gaya Ji and the unprecedented conduct of the Kumbh Mela are examples of how present-day India is advancing its cultural identity with new determination and confidence. He emphasized that this awakening inspires future generations to stay connected to their roots. Underlining that the sacred land of Goa has a unique spiritual identity with a continuous flow of devotion, cherished tradition and cultural practices for centuries, Prime Minister Modi said that these lands, in addition to their natural beauty, also carry the identity of ‘Dakshin Kashi’, which is further deepened by Partagali Math.

Prime Minister Modi said that he wanted to present nine calls that can be conveyed to every citizen through his institutions. He emphasized that these calls are similar to nine decisions. He said the first solution should be to conserve water, save water and protect rivers. Stating that the second decision should be to plant trees, he emphasized that the “Ek Ped Maa ke Naam” campaign across the country is gaining momentum.

He emphasized that the third decision should be a cleaning mission by ensuring that every street, neighborhood and city remains clean. He said the fourth decision should be to embrace Swadeshi. Talking about the fifth resolution, PM Modi said that it should be ‘Desh Darshan’ and encouraged everyone to make efforts to know and understand different parts of the country. He emphasized that the sixth decision should be to make natural agriculture a part of life.

He stated that the seventh resolution should be to adopt a healthy lifestyle, adopt ‘Shri Anna’-Millets and reduce fat consumption in food by 10 percent. He noted that the eighth decision should be to embrace yoga and sports, and the ninth decision should be to help the poor in some way. He emphasized that tourism is an important component in the national vision for a developed India by 2047 and Goa is the best example of this.

“India is going through a decisive phase where the strength of the youth, the growing self-confidence of the nation and its penchant for cultural roots are together shaping a new India,” the Prime Minister said. He underlined that the determination of a developed India will be realized only with the concomitant advancement of spirituality, national service and development. In his earlier remarks at the Laksha Kantha Gita Parayana program at Sri Krishna Matha in Udupi, Karnataka, Prime Minister Modi made a similar appeal to people for nine solutions. “Let’s take nine resolutions like conserving water, planting trees, cheering up the poor, adopting Swadeshi, promoting natural farming, adopting a healthy lifestyle, practicing yoga, preserving manuscripts and visiting at least 25 heritage sites,” he said.

In Kalyuga, he said that one can achieve liberation from the ocean of earthly existence simply by chanting the name of the Lord. He said the words of the Gita not only guide individuals but also shape the direction of the nation’s policies. “The Bhagavad Gita teaches that defending peace and truth may require confronting and ending the forces of injustice, and this principle is central to the nation’s approach to security,” he said.

Underlining that Jagadguru Madhvacharya is the pioneer of India’s Dvaita philosophy and the shining light of Vedanta, the Prime Minister underlined that the Ashta Mathas system created by Udupi himself is a living example of institutional structuring and creation of new traditions. He stated that there is devotion to Lord Krishna, knowledge of Vedanta and determination to serve food to thousands of people. The Prime Minister also inaugurated the Suvarna Teertha Mantapa located in front of the Krishna temple and dedicated the Kanaka Kavacha (golden cover) to Kanakana Kindi, a sacred window where saint Kanakadasa is believed to have had divine darshan of Bhagwan Krishna. Sri Krishna Matha, Udupi was founded over 800 years ago by Sri Madhvacharya, the founder of the Dvaita philosophy of Vedanta.
