Officials release 911 call from deadly shooting of Tipp City volleyball coach, former teacher

The newly released 911 call provides more details about the investigation into the death of 37-year-old Ashley Flynn in Tipp City.

The Miami County District Attorney approved the release of the nearly eight-minute 911 call on Friday after previously suspending it, seeking part of the investigative record under Ohio law.
During the interview, Caleb Flynn told the officer that someone had broken into his home on Cunningham Court early Monday morning.
“Oh my God, someone broke into my house. Someone broke into my house and shot my wife,” he told the officer.

He added that his wife, Ashley, was in bed and “two shots were fired” in her head.
Flynn told the officer the garage door was open and their daughter was home.
“I was with the children when it happened,” he told the officer, adding that they were asleep in their room.
The officer asks him if he saw anyone else in the house.
“No, it’s pitch black and the doors are locked,” he replied. “When I ran there, the door leading to the garage was wide open.”
The officer then asks her to check on her children. When asked for the third time, Caleb replied that they were still sleeping and had no visible injuries.
Like previously reportedAshley was pronounced dead at the scene.
Caleb Flynn was arrested and charged with one count of murder, two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of tampering with evidence, Tipp City Police Chief Greg Adkins said Thursday.
“The Tipp City Police Department appreciates the community’s patience and support as this collaborative investigative team diligently worked on this complex case. We also extend our sincere gratitude to the many agencies that have assisted and continue to assist in this investigation involving the tragic loss of life,” Adkins said.
Authorities found probable cause to charge Caleb with murder; however, due to the ongoing investigation, specific investigation details have not been released.
He is being held in the Miami County Jail on $2 million bail.
