Sean Dyche sacked by Nottingham Forest with club in relegation fight

Postecoglou was able to stay in office for only 39 days after replacing Nuno Espirito Santo, who was fired just three games into the 2025-26 season.

Dyche left Forest 18th at the City Ground after one win in eight matches during a difficult start to the season.

Dyche, who lost 2-0 to Bournemouth in his first game in charge, took Forest out of the relegation zone with four wins and a draw in the next seven games.

Four consecutive defeats followed, but Dyche’s team responded with a four-game unbeaten run; This included a 2-1 win over fellow strugglers West Ham and a resilient goalless draw with leaders Arsenal.

But improved form from Leeds United and West Ham has kept Forest mired in the relegation fight.

Forest reached the knockout stage of the Europa League group standings, sitting 13th with four wins, two draws and two defeats in eight matches.

This month they will face Turkish side Fenerbahce for a chance to reach the last 16, with the first match taking place next Thursday.

Forest crashed out of both domestic cup competitions, losing 3-2 to Swansea under Postecoglou in the EFL Cup third round in September, and being eliminated from the FA Cup on penalties against Wrexham, another Championship side, in the third round under Dyche last month.
