However, the winner on the cinema side of the Globe nomination was studio Neon. The independent private film company has emerged as a dominant force in international releases, winning a string of Palme d’Or awards at the Cannes Film Festival. As of Monday, it earned 21 nominations, including five out of six international film nominations.
Some of those nominations came at the expense of some high-profile studio films. Bad: For Good It was nominated for five awards, including two nominations for its songs and acting nominations for Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. As the Globes continues to put its scandalous past behind, there’s a notable change this year. Globes awards best podcast for the first time. The opening candidates are as follows: Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, Call His Father, Have fun with Amy Poehler, Mel Robbins Podcast, SmartLess and NPR’s Up First.
Most of these candidates are no strangers to Hollywood. But they’ll mingle with a wide array of stars that the Globes, long known for filling its red carpets with A-listers, are sure to nominate.
