Whoopi Goldberg’s awkward on-air confession about why she’s named in the Epstein files

Whoopi Goldberg was forced to make a bizarre on-air confession on Tuesday’s episode of The View about why her name was in the Epstein files.

Shortly after reality star Savannah Chrisley was controversially introduced as a guest panelist for the rest of the week, the host, 70, announced that her name had appeared in an email exchange between Jeffrey Epstein and a redacted contact.

The message focused on Goldberg’s attempt to find a private plane to fly to Monaco to attend an event hosted by Julian Lennon’s charity, the White Feather Foundation.

When the email appeared on the screen, Goldberg said pointedly: ‘In the interest of transparency… my name is on the files.’

After reading the message out loud, he continued: ‘It says, ‘Whoopi needs a plane to Monaco… Julian Lennon’s charity is paying for it.’ They don’t want to rent, so they’re looking for private owners. Here’s the information.’

‘And they give all the information and say “Would you like to present your G2?” they say.’

Thereupon, co-host Sunny Hostin emphasized that Epstein rejected the offer in a separate message.

“And apparently they said no thanks,” he remarked.

Joy Behar added: ‘So in other words, anyone could be on this list?’

Goldberg continued to plead, saying she was not Epstein’s friend or girlfriend.

‘That’s what I mean because when I tell you people are trying to turn me into something…’ he said. ‘I wasn’t his girlfriend. I wasn’t his friend.

‘Not only was I too old, but it was also a time when this didn’t happen…. ‘There had to be facts before we said things.’

At this point, 83-year-old Behar was happy to say that President Donald Trump’s name was mentioned 38 thousand times in the files.

“I can’t talk to him, but I talk about myself because I’m in drag,” Goldberg said.

‘People actually believe I’m with him. It’s like, honey, come on. ‘You know every man I’ve been with because either The Enquirer wrote about it, or people wrote about that kind of thing.’

The mere mention of his name in the Epstein files does not imply any guilt or wrongdoing in connection with Epstein’s heinous crimes against children.

In January 2024, Goldberg shut down speculation that she was on the Epstein list.

She said on an episode of The View: ‘I need to explain, because there was a fake list and I’m on it.’

Hostin, 57, jokingly asked: ‘So you were on the island?’

‘Apparently I don’t know, they said I was on an island,’ Goldberg replied. ‘And I said, ‘I’m not going anywhere.’

“So I’ll just say this – and a lot has happened lately, I don’t know what I’ve done to anyone – but it seems like there’s a lot of sites that are satire sites,” he added at the time.

‘But people don’t realize they can be harmful.’

Besides Goldberg, the Epstein files implicated hundreds of high-profile people, including politicians like the Obamas and singers like Bruce Springsteen.

Since December, the Trump administration has been drip-feeding millions of emails, photos and documents related to the case against disgraced financier Epstein.

Federal employees spent countless hours reviewing the data and releasing it in batches throughout December and January.

The Epstein files forced top businessmen and academics to resign from their positions.

They have also triggered the breakup of high-profile marriages and signaled the decline of dignitaries such as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who was stripped of his royal titles last year.
