One boy dead, two others with life threatening injuries after allegedly stolen car crashes into tree

A 14-year-old boy died and two teenagers were seriously injured in the accident that occurred in Victoria’s northeast.

Police said the car was traveling along the Calder Highway and crashed into a tree shortly before 10am near Woosang-Yeungroon Road, about 250km northeast of Melbourne.

The 18-year-old driver and one of his 14-year-old passengers were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, while the other 14-year-old Mildura boy died at the scene.

Police believe the car was allegedly stolen from an address in Mildura overnight.

The Calder Highway is expected to be closed while detectives continue their investigation.
