One killed, one injured in blast at firecracker storage unit in Uttar Pradesh’s Etah

One person died and another was injured in an explosion at a fireworks warehouse in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, October 19, 2025, authorities said.
The explosion that took place near Bagwala Chowraha destroyed four shops nearby, while the roofs of two adjacent houses collapsed due to its density. Police stated that the identity of the deceased has not been determined yet.
Circle Officer Rajesh Singh said, “Rescue operations are ongoing. A body has been recovered and efforts are on to ensure no one gets trapped under the rubble.”
Singh said 40-year-old Sanju Lodhi, who was injured in the blast, was admitted to the district medical college in a serious condition.
“The warehouse run by Rais Khan was about 100 meters away from the main gateway and had just opened for Diwali sales,” said eyewitness Pramod Kumar Singh.
Authorities said a similar explosion occurred in the same place a few years ago and killed five people.
Police reported that the area was blockaded and rescue efforts were continuing.
