S.S. Rajamouli Mulls Baahubali 3 in Animation Format

If reliable sources are to be believed, India’s ace filmmaker SS Rajamouli is reportedly exploring the idea of bringing back his most iconic film Baahubali in a completely new format powered by AI and animation.

“An animated version of Baahubali 3 is also on the agenda and even the makers are thinking along similar lines. The project may be launched soon,” said a source.

The source reveals that the live-action sequel will be difficult at the moment, given the busy schedule of superstar Prabhas who is busy with multiple projects over the next two years. “Anushka Shetty has also taken it slow; Tamannaah’s role will have to be expanded and Rana Daggubati’s character was killed off in the climax of Baahubali 2. So, it is difficult to find the right cast for the live-action version,” adds the source.

With the Baahubali franchise continuing to enjoy a massive global fan base, especially after renewed excitement ahead of its re-release on October 31, the makers are said to be keen to capitalize on this enduring craze.

The team plans to utilize AI-powered animation to create realistic characters, majestic environments, and high-octane battle scenes that will rival the cinematic scale of the first two episodes. Inspired by the recent success of the animated film Mahavatar Narasimha, Rajamouli reportedly sees potential in delivering an animated show of Hollywood standards.

“If all goes well, they think it will be released in 2026. The goal is to create a warrior-focused story with emotionally charged storytelling and breathtaking visuals,” explains the insider.

The project is expected to reunite Oscar-winning composer MM Keeravani, who has created emotional songs and evocative background music, and veteran writer Vijayendra Prasad, who can write powerful dialogues to match the grandeur of the series.

With Rajamouli’s visionary touch and state-of-the-art animation technology, Baahubali 3 could be a game changer in Indian cinema; This could be another turning point in the filmmaker’s illustrious career.
