One thing Meghan Markle wanted from Royal Family but couldn’t have, according to expert | Royal | News

Meghan Markle reportedly wanted two things from the Royal Family, but they were things she couldn’t have. The 44-year-old actress officially joined the Royal Family in May 2018, less than two years after her first meeting with Prince Harry in London.

However, the couple’s association at the Firm did not last long; The couple released a statement in January 2020 saying they wanted to step back from royal duties and work to become financially independent. The couple later moved to California with their son and welcomed their daughter to the US the following year.

Despite desiring a private life away from the firm, some experts believe Meghan’s decision stemmed from her inability to get two things from the Royal Family.

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond said: OK!: “I have always held the view that Meghan failed to understand that she could never be the Royal Family’s top dog, or even their best canine sidekick.

“There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to be in full control of your life and in charge.

“There’s nothing wrong with being in the spotlight. It’s just that the Royal Family were the wrong vehicle for his ambitions.”

Experts also suggested that Meghan did not intend to stay in England for a long time.

Phil Dampier tells The Sun: “I honestly don’t think he ever considered staying in the Royal Family.

“Unfortunately, I think she’s prepared to have a wonderful wedding that costs millions of pounds, but I don’t think she’s really up for it and I think she’s always planned on leaving, so the proof of the pudding is in the eating and that’s what we’re seeing now.”

Meghan currently lives in Montecito with Prince Harry and Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four.

The couple are reportedly welcome in Tromsø in 2026, although they spent Christmas in California with their children.
